PROGRAM Activities
CCP will provide support to the selected industry clusters through technical assistance and training. The support is designed to strengthen linkages between all levels of the clusters’ value chains – from suppliers to producers to processors to distributors and exporters. Growth in the targeted industry clusters via sales revenues, exports, incomes and productivity are some of the expected results. The mix of technical assistance and training will be market focused & responsive to cluster members’ expressed needs. Primary activities include:
- Improving productivity – by providing sector focused experts who’ve tackled similar problems in other parts of the world
- Strengthening value chains – between suppliers, producers, processors and distributors by identifying and addressing gaps in knowhow and technology – CCP has a grants program to fund such activities
- Linking domestic firms with export markets – by doing market research, identifying target markets then making direct contacts
- Assisting with product development – aligning Tanzanian product offerings with market needs by offering ideas to differentiate and add uniqueness
- Improving curricula at 3 to 5 training institutions – to ensure graduates are more relevant to industry needs with updated skills & knowledge
- Building capacity in selected associations – specifically to help clusters adopt international standards (good manufacturing practices [GMP] and customer service are 2 examples)
- And assisting with policy reforms to remove constraints to growth – particularly by building capacity in TPSF and others to think strategically, identify reform priorities and merge public and private interests.
Some Expected Outcomes after three years
- Revenues will have increased more quickly than the most recent five year average
- Exports will be growing at a faster rate
