Achieving a higher state of competitiveness involves bringing industry, government and other stakeholders together to think and act more strategically. It means not just relying on natural resources, well situated location or inexpensive labor to compete for a share of the world market. Instead, it means developing a more supportive regulatory environment and improving the capacity of Tanzanian companies to create higher value product offerings for customers (whose precise needs are better understood). It also means improving productivity, adopting international standards, enhancing customer service and implementing more coordinated marketing and promotion.Simply put, Tanzanians must work together to improve their ability to compete with other regional and international players, all of which seek to expand their share of markets in and outside Tanzania. As it is often said, firms don’t just compete against firms anymore, now entire industry value chains compete internationally with each other
